So this last week, in Sherman Oaks, at Shaw’s Place: Expert Computer Maintenance & Repair, we had a few emergency calls. First, I had a client who says “His computer is his life”, and he needs his computer worked on. He had dropped it on the corner and cracked the case. I took a look, opened up his device, and checked for motherboard damage. Sure enough there was some. I notified my client immediately that the cost to repair or replace his motherboard will exceed buying a comparable device at a tech store. I informed him that I would remove his hard drive, back up his data, and provide it to him on a flash drive. In the end he was satisfied with the work, because I saved his data, which the most expensive piece of a system.

A couple days later, and through the next few days, I received a referral client. He needed a lot of work done. He is CEO of his business and cannot be without a computer for long. He works 24/7. His current laptop keyboard was completely worn out, with little to no figures showing, and or readable. I was able to replace the keyboard with no issues, and at little cost for parts and labor. In the meantime, while waiting for the replacement part, He brought me his newly purchased laptop. I discovered, while setting up this new laptop, that even though it claimed to be a performance laptop, with 4GB of memory, that the processor was known in the community as, “Extremely Slow”, and “Completely Useless”. The CPU was worth less than $80 on the market. As part of Shaw’s Place’s services, I guided him towards a better laptop fit, at a lower price, to use for his daily work. I’ll be setting it up today. My client is very happy with my work.

My third client this week was hacked after only 3 days of purchasing his new laptop for his girlfriend, and locked out of the system. I informed him, as there is no data yet to save, that I would simply go into advanced options, and completely reset the laptop. It took only a small handful of hours, and my client was satisfied.
